Tuesday in Room 18

Today we began talking about our 'why.'  Why do we come to school? Why are we here each day? The students worked in groups to think about their why.  Then we came together as a class.  Three ideas repeated: learning, friends and thinking about the future.  From these 3 ideas our next step is creating our class mission statement.

we also worked on establishing our classroom expectations.  Again students worked in groups thinking about what we need to be successful.  Based on those ideas we continued to discuss and combine until we were left with the top 5 things that should be in place to help room 18 be successful and run smoothly.

Finally, we began practicing reading workshop and selecting reading spots around the room.

First Day of School 2017-2018!!!!!

We are having a great time getting to know one another.  One of our activities was building the tallest tower.  Each person could use only their 2 pointer fingers to touch the cups! This was a blast to observe and the students learned a lot from the experience.
